About
Hi I'm Linda. My love of camping, wilderness areas and travel started early. In 1971 my Dad built a camper that fit onto the back of our F250 ford truck (check out Dad's pretty amazing skills here).
We started exploring in that camper from when I was 3 years old. This included one epic adventure travelling around Australia for four months in 1978.
Ever since that trip I've had a passion to explore by foot, kayak, motorbike, 4x4 - any means to get away from the masses and to find less visited and unique destinations.
My first overseas trip was in Asia when I was 19. Soon after that I purchased a world map which has been on the wall of every apartment or house I've lived in. I even took it to New York when I lived there for a couple of years in the 90's.
I've been pushing another pin in the map every time I visit a new destination. Many hours have been spent staring at this map planning my next adventure.
I met Mike, my husband in 2005 and since then we have had many adventures together. He's a fabulous researcher and after a 4x4 trip we took through Africa in 2009 he started Self Drive Adventures offering guided tagalong style adventures around the world. We now run this business together full time and, thanks to Mike, now I am living my passion!
