Next Pin: Japan Off the Beaten Track Kumano-Kodo

Updated: Oct 13, 2018

The marketing material describes this pilgrimage trail as follows:

"The Kii Peninsula points south away from Kyoto and Osaka and is one of the most remote and mystical areas of Japan, despite its proximity to these great cities. Long a place of pilgrimage, the Kii Peninsula is the site of the three Grand Shrines of Kumano (Kumano Sanzan)." (https://www.okujapan.com/ways-to-go/self/kumano-kodo-self-guided-walking-tours)

So, when my good buddies Lucy and Damian said they were off to do this self guided walk, I invited myself along. I've never been to Japan before so this is an interesting way to take the plunge into a country that I am sure I will revisit.

Here is a video from Oku Japan who we are booking the trip through.

Departure date: April 2019
